I’m sure many of you read my last post, detailing my adventure into landscaping. Sheesh, Broward County needs things done right and luckily those guys do. Well, it’s been about a month since then and my cousin John came over the other week. He mentioned that a part of my roof was starting to look sunken in. Surely enough, I went to the storage closet under that part of the house and saw the tell-tale signs of water damage in the ceiling panels. He recommended a great handyman company he used for his last roof repairs. Thanks to having great experiences with the last place I looked up online, I was optimistic. I got onto the computer and checked them out. The company John recommended did have a website. They didn’t just do roofing, however, they also did a plethora of other things ranging from Epoxy Garage Flooring in Boca Raton, plumbing, and electrical work.
I called them up and a nice young man answered the phone and described the issue. He told me that they may need to re-shingle that area of my roof, but they’d have to come out to see it first to be certain. I agreed to them come out that day to take a look at it.
Two handymen came out to inspect my roof that afternoon. John was patient enough to stick around – I’m sure it had nothing to do with my bribe of aged scotch. The handymen found the spots that were sagging and letting water through. They also pointed out a few other patches where my roof had been damaged due to tree limbs and bad weather, but not yet to the point of leaking water. I asked them just to patch the one spot for now and made a note to have the other patches looked at later if they did a good job.
I’ll spare you the smaller details, but they finished the job that evening. John and I passed the time inside with a few games of Scrabble before he left. Before I knew it, the handymen knocked on my door and led me outside to see the repairs. I couldn’t believe it – my roof looked better than it had in years with just one small patch. It did, however, show that my roof needed a bit of cleaning. I thanked them and handed their check over. Overall, what I could see of the repairs were high quality and the price was more than agreeable for roof repair.
The next day, John came back over to see the work they did in the daylight. I handed him a ladder to inspect the job. He laughed, telling me to get the rest of the roof cleaned, but he was impressed with the quality, giving me an “I told you so” look.
Over the next week, I continued to check the water damage in my closet. It hasn’t grown since, even with that big storm coming through the other day.
